Discord servers are real neat for growing specific communities but in turn makes it really hard to let people casually integrate themselves. I want to think it's more than just nostalgia making me so excited to see a forum running again. It lets people casually start and engage with topics as they please, or look up information and opinions, or even just browse a place without having to slip into any otherwise private or closed-off communities/hubs - and unlike how social media accomplishes that, there's no weird algorithms you have to fight just to be seen, or pressure to make your posts eye-catching. I've missed just getting to converse with people this way!
