To add on to what Shelby said, if Gio made the choice to acknowledge Hussie's pronouns but only use he/him, that'd be one thing. But in the footnote he instead made it seem like Hussie's pronouns aren't "official" and that everyone else in the story only used he/him for Hussie. The more cynical side of me is inclined to think that Gio mentioning that Miles and others only use he/him for Hussie is meant to insinuate that they're not really using any pronouns.
In any case, it kinda shows Gio's mindset -- if he was innocently using he/him, he probably wouldn't have felt the need to try and justify that he was using the right pronouns and expecting someone to give him (publically available) proof otherwise.
