a lot of Homestuck is worthless fluff, a lot of Homestuck is stuff that can be explained clearly in 2 minutes, a lot of Homestuck is LOST in its medium. It being animated means longer and more dynamic fights and more onscreen fights in general, less time spent on endlessly wordy dialogue and more time spent on substantial, consistent, and easily discernible character development. And speaking of, that means abrupt conflicts (like Murderstuck) can have more focus on the lead up to them and thus more impact, AND THUS may be received more fondly.
Don't get me wrong, Homestuck's strengths are its wordy dialogue and slowburn character development. A lot of what people like about Homestuck is that there is SO MUCH to read and learn about. Even if not all of it amounts to anything. Like learning all this stuff about Nepeta only for her to really contribute nothing and then die.
But Homestuck's weaknesses are what is easily addressed with an animated adaptation. There's SO MUCH you can do with animation that Homestuck cannot accomplish.
Hell, you don't even have to necessarily cut down most of the wordy dialogue. It can still be in there, just paired with the characters progressing the plot. Pesterchum conversations can be done over the course of entire episodes of John and the crew fighting monsters, learning alchemization, exploring their lands, etc.
I think its worth giving a chance.
