not to get off topic from calling the blank icon a sockpuppet but i want to say THANK YOU FOR TALKING SENSE CARMI. the homestuck fandom is uniquely deranged because people feel such an incredible right to other people's work here it's honestly disturbing. the UHC isn't a fanwork. they clearly can keep the reader up (what they actually made) without issue, but everyone thinks that if they call themselves an "archivist" (just like someone calling themselves a "journalist" because they have a blog lol) that they can not just keep but DISTRIBUTE something (the asset pack) that isn't theirs, and the actual CREATOR AND OWNER isn't allowed to say anything! Hussie has been letting all those people slide with creating PERSONAL BRANDS around THEIR WORK and encouraging it to try to foster an active and healthy fandom not just for their work but also other people's fanworks (as CLEARLY EVIDENCED by the existence of FRAF/HICU).

People act like Hussie was previously "fake" in promoting the UHC a while back - but as someone who saw it when it first came out I didn't even know it had anyone involved other than Bambosh.

So yes, if a creator is basically doing you a FAVOR and trying to keep the fandom positive by being cool with it - you are now playing ball in their court. And if you want to continue to play with their ball in their court, if you are CLEARLY legally in the wrong (and let's not act like the fact that Hussie hasn't been suing for defamation or w/e is suspicious, because we all know that the outcry would be absurd if they actually sued, as evidenced by the Sarah Z fiasco (which I can't say any real opinion on other than if anything respect for Hussie for trying to protect an openly hated (by CERTAIN PEOPLE) and TARGETED marginalized member of their team)) then maybe you should be less of a malicious asshole lmfao. play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

FRAF has clearly come about from SOMEONE realizing that "hey, maybe if we curate parts of the fandom, this place will feel like less of a hellhole." and you know what? I think it's been working out pretty well so far, even with all of gio's bullshit. Gio (and people like gio... cough cough makin) want homestuck to be preserved in a little bubble, THEIR BUBBLE, that they control and can slap their names on top of. they don't want it to grow or change or frankly do anything fun.
