less concrete detail and more speculation on a concrete detail but I feel like something that kinda gets ignored about caledfwlch's recipe is the magic cue ball.

I feel like people just kinda accept on its face that somehow the sword can kill lord english because of the cue ball but they never really think on it.

MY PERSONAL INTERPRETATION on it is that when combined via alchemy with a weapon, a magic cue ball grants the ability to bypass any immortality, conditional or not. But why can it impart this property? Well where else do we see a magic cue ball in the comic?

...A god tier clock from homestuckThe pendulum of a god tier clock. The same clock a player in a void session must destroy to claim their unconditional immortality.

I argue that the magic cue ball, an artifact known to have a specific (manipulable) intelligence, is what within a god tier clock decides if a death is heroic or just, and so when combined with a weapon it defers judgement to whoever wields the weapon, and allows even those who lack god tier clocks or who have destroyed their god tier clocks to be killed.
