I think it's accurate enough to function.
The issue is, perception is inherently limited and the brain has to run in the background in order to fill in the gaps, which ultimately makes things a little fucky.
However, in my case, I don't think I have any particularly big disconnect from reality except when I'm tired.
(However my memory is another issue entirely.)
