i've been getting through a lot of geoff johns' green lantern stories recently. rebirth is totally just entirely course correction but goddamn is it so cool... this might be one of my favourite moments in a comic book ever.
there's also that new superman movie and i am very very mixed on it. i'm curious to know what everyone else thought though!

i've been talking about this movie with my buddy spooko for a little bit, and although he's usually a lot more cynical about things than i am, it's really put into perspective how much i don't like the story with krypton in this movie.
every classic iteration of superman has his parents send him to earth out of love, and krypton itself is supposed to be a warning for what could happen to earth. he's not supposed to be a nature vs nurture character! directly calling superman an immigrant story and then making his heritage fully evil is not a good look. atleast john byrne's superman just didn't care that much about krypton, gunn's version of the character entirely dismisses the planet as a part of him. i mean, sure, there is obviously the opportunity to explore krypton more in a sequel but honestly i don't think gunn would retcon the message to a fake out or something. and even then that ruins the movie as a standalone film for me if they chose to run it back in a second one.
i think what is most likely to happen is that in some roundabout way, some amount of krypton will come back into the fold and it'll be about superman inspiring them to good and changing their outlook on earth. ugh.
