classpect thread

Should there be a separate thread for Deltarune classpecting and this one be for BC classpecting, or is this chill just being the any and all classpecting thread?

Anyway, i do think the "hope crossed on her heart" thing makes it easy to read Susie as hopebound, but there is the possibility that Susie is not the intended third hero of the propechy, so maybe that doesn't apply to her? (tho even if Noelle is the third hero, I'd still argue she's voidbound and not hopebound)

Anyway, my gut reading of Susie is as a Knight of Rage. Rage is about tearing systems down, and Susie rejects the prophecy and the intended role of Darkners. She also uses that desire to break systems to protect her friends, which seems to be her main goal in life now. So, yeah, Knight of Rage.

lyricHartwell, I do agree on the aspect of Susie being Rage. I haven't fully thought it through, though, but classpecting Deltarune characters in a different thread would be a nice idea. This one specifically could be used for the main canon, while having a secondary thread for classpecting others from other media. classpectAnon, what do you think?

susie is definitely a rogue of hope. she took the hope that toriel gave her, and gives it to tenna, ralsei, and us, even destroying the window just to preserve the hope that it won't happen. plus, if we view the prophecy as 'truth' then susie saying they will go against it is 'fantasy' which is the literal dichotomy between rage and truth.

That is a very interesting reason! I think there is a lot to chew on with her character, Susie definitely has a lot of depth we haven't seen yet.

continuing with the dr classpect stuff what do you guys think queen and king would be? i was thinking of king being a rage player due to how he's sceptic about the lightners wishing the best for darkners and how he wants to tear down and defy the the idea that darkners should serve lightners ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Wow i still idk what queen would be

I mean I don't know about King or Queen, but my other classpects for the main cast are Kris as a Page of Heart, Ralsei as an Heir of Hope, and Noelle as a Mage of Void.

Page of Heart for Kris bc I think they're struggling to assert theri "self" and their self is constantly undermined by the SOUL, but I believe they're slowly fighting back against our control and will eventually find a sense of self. I'm not the most sure on this one honestly, but I do think Kris is Heartbound at least.

In the sense that I said Susie is Ragebound bc she rebels against the Propechy, I think under that framing the Propechy = Hope and Ralsei to me seems to fit as an Heir of Hope, someone who full heartedly believes in the Propechy, and really only exists bc of it. Of course, Ralsei is starting to rebel against that, so I could see an argument for something other than Heir.

Noelle I think is Voidbound bc of her tendency to find videogame secrets and generally just, break videogames. She's associated with the Weird Route, which is itself this thing that is framed as like, "wrong" and it's very hard to get to. As well, her association with Dess. Mage bc she talks about all of these things on her personal blog, but doesn't really seem to actually go out of her way to really tell people, given that her blog is mostly empty. So, gathering knowledge, but mostly for herself, and this tendency to find strange unsettling secrets seems to have shaped how she interacts with the world.

Ly'lac as a hero of Doom is perfect. Sorry to say I don't really think Tavvy is Doom. I think BKEW on tumblr (or maybe someone in their ask box? Don't remember) was likely spot on in speculating that the colors on page https://beyondcanon.com/story/214 signify those kids' aspects, which would place Tavvy as a Breath player. I think it actually makes a lot of sense for him. His chumhandle suggests he's a gymnast, and that involves a lot of flying about in a controlled manner. Not that chumhandles often signify classpects like that, I just think it works in this case.

Actually, thank you touringTanuki for pointing out Ly'lac's Jade parallels. If we're going with that, then the way Jade kinda fakes Life at the beginning (though of course at the time I don't think we knew there was a Life aspect) we could hypothesize that Ly'lac fakes Doom but is actually... Time?

i never considered tavvy breath but it's an interesting one to see...i'd love for him to be rage, really, as that creates an interesting parallel of sorts perhaps with "uncle" gamzee. (and on page 69 (yes really.) there's the bit of him going: "He feels a sudden rush of hot, stifling...something. He refuses, this time, to call it fear. He's got to cool down." which. hrmmmm could be rage...). also tavvy being rage means he's the opposite of his father, which is even more fun.

but i will continue to be very very hesitant to throw out classes. after all, rose was far more like a "witch" and jade was far more like a "seer" in early homestuck. i'm also assuming that any classpects we get will not be repeat ones that already exist, such as a second heir of breath. but i think doom/time ly'lac is pretty safe.

Throwing down:

Sylph of Doom or Prince of Life for Ly'lac. Staving off the inevitable until eventually it can be broken apart.

Maid of Rage for Yiffy. She's quite literally made of narratives and rage from a literal perspective.

@alexArtForm Thief of Doom for Tavvy would make the most sense in this case. He's willing to take the misfortune of others on his shoulders and make the most of it, and he's a good caretaker to make sure others get rest so they're at their best like when he asserted that Harry and Vrissy should make sure to eat the nuts and don't just pick out the parts they like.

Knight of Heart for Harry. I suspect he'll end up being the star of the show even if not the only one. While he's clearly got John's and Roxy's cavalier attitude and realistic outlook on life I figure he's got some things he still needs to get off his chest too from time to time. Expressing himself would be perfect Knight of Heart as someone who serves identity and passion, given his thespian qualities and proclivities toward expression through clothing. I figure he and Tavvy are most primed for being the caretakers of the group that keep everyone grounded when everything feels utterly fucked. With Tavvy saddling burdens even when the others refuse to let him take it on alone as well as making sure the group gets time to rest so they can grow properly, and Harry reminding them of the good aspects of life that are worth fighting for.

Vrissy I have no idea. Something Mind makes sense but I figure the biggest thing of all is that Vrissy's going to have to learn who she is outside of Vriska's shadow and become her own person, which means it'll likely be something regarding acquiring perspective over time, and understanding who she is by that merit. I'm guessing Heir of Mind or Mage of Heart.

did people finally talk about how ly'lac be a doom player as i think they are directly hinting, im assuming bard of doom CAUSE ALL OF OUR FOOD KEEPS BLOWING UP

I'm still a skeptic on the "they're going to use up the remaining classpects" theory, as I have been since the epilogues dropped, so take this with a grain of salt, but I could very easily see Yiffy as either a breath or void hero. Breath due to the strong themes of lack of freedom and control over her own life and void due to her being hidden right up until jade announces she's been taken political prisoner, followed by only showing silhouettes and vague conversations about her until she actually debuted. Even now the most we really know about her that's come from her is that she's gained some respect for Tavvy and she's done dealing with the adults in candy. I feel void definitely is a weaker guess than breath for her but I do still feel its probably a better guess than rage, simply because I feel that guess has mainly been bolstered by the aforementioned "remaining classpects" theory and her growling at Jane/disrespecting Gamzee's funeral/saying "fuck you" to the candy adults also people hoping she dislikes her own name as much as they do, and I have a hard time seeing her actions through a lens of tearing down lies and systems upheld by them. Confusion and doubt brought into the story may be a better argument for her being ragebound but I feel people experience that similarly when they're first introduced to equius and he isn't ragebound either.

anyways tl;dr I think remaining classpects theory isn't that solid and yiffy's probably a breath hero.

How do we know the 12 aspects and 14 classes are ALL they are? And with each new iteration of the game, who's to say someone won't add more? What else could be waiting in this new SHURB :3C

as interesting as that could be, adding in MORE new aspects/classes when so many are still quite vaguely defined sounds like a nightmare. A bunch of new classes we also won't get any solid information on...

i mean, i seriously doubt theyd do it but we gotta be prepared 4 everything

i really do hope they make that classpect document available. i remember james mentioning perhaps getting the team to dress it up and expand upon it more and put it out to fans, but i don't know if that ever made it anywhere...solid answers would be fantastic...
