It Really Sucks Because I Was Looking Forward To Having More Vriska But Theyre Trying To Redeem Her And She Just Doesnt Need Redemption. Vriska At Her Very Core Is An Incredibly Emotional Person. She Doesnt Want To Admit It But She Usually Acts More Based On Emotion Than Logic. I Cannot Ever See Her Acting Kindly To Pre-Retcon Vriska Because She Hates Herself!!!! Stop Making Her A Better Person!!! Why Does She Need To Be Good To Be A Good Character!!! She Is Childish And I Think No Amount Of Time In The Torture Chamber Is Going To Fix That. It Makes Me Quite Frankly No Longer Looking Forward To The Vrisrezi Reunion Because Chances Are It Will Be So Painfully Out Of Character For The Both Of Them. Beyond Canon Certainly Has Its Good Points ( Quite Fond Of Candy Rose ) But Vriskas Characterization Just Ruins It For Me Honestly. Pissed Off Kanaya

toby fox might be one of the most vriska understanding motherfuckers of all time because undertale had helltier vriska in 2015 and her name is undyne. toby saw this vision true and clear 10 years in advance there is no doubt in my mind. he knew she could grow and develop into an adult chuuni who can back it up with real anime levels of giant energy sword bullshit, with a big heart and a big smile and the sincere capacity to do shit like kill a child with the power of friendship. i dont know if undyne is going to kill a child with the power of friendship but i think she could. maybe she will i mean she is literally taking kids to go play sburb shurb

i just don’t think we‘re supposed to take “we’re gonna shove you into a limbo of your past where you’re supposed to brute force lessons with people who‘s only therapist qualifications are being game construct guides for a game which we already established cannot meaningfully replace growing up and developing as a person” that straight forwardly. we have yet to see how this actually affects vriska moving forward, but i just don’t think there’s more conclusions to be drawn at this point than just “vriska has accepted her past and can move on”.

Asserting that Vriska is childish and must never gonna change is a bit silly considering the Vriska we've always known was literally a child. All childish children grow into adults eventually! And I think at its core the Plot Point arc was much more about letting Vriska become an adult like everyone else than it was about making her a better person. Giving everyone else the chance to mature while Vriska has to keep running around as a 16 year old seems like the far less fair or interesting outcome for her as a character, to me

i too wish that we got to see more of the vriska therapy arc but i also remember on the homestuck reddit at the time everyone was complaining about too much vriska. i would have loved eight full seasons of vriska though.

re: ancientJadeTotem
Unfortunately for some, Vriska is the Protagonist of Homestuck.

re: OP

I am afraid I have to disagree with you. I would say that a lot of what has made Vriska a very emotional and impulsive character in the original comic was the fact that she was 13-16 years old (a fact which many seem to forget about her in particular). A lot of what HS:BC has done with Vriska is to allow her to do some growing up, which we all have to do at some point in our lives, and I think that her growing up and becoming more mature and a modicum more at peace with herself (not wanting to Literally Die in order to "redeem" all the things she thinks she has done wrong) is actually a very good direction to take her character!

remains to be seen what else they'll do with it and with vriska going forward but i will say as it stands the concept of helltier, on its face, is very funny to me

like, "ok we know the last bullshit game construct was a metaphor for the idea that power =/= self actualization and a deconstruction/parody of the popular idea in a lot of videogames and shonen-like media that maturity and emotional growth are tied at the hip to leveling up and gaining more magical abilities and that a bildungsroman filled with trials and powerscaling and dramatic fights would leave someone as a fully actualized Big Hero rather than a traumatized wreck and really the idea that an impersonal magic power system would ever be a good judge of character and maturity at all, but THIS bullshit game construct, this one's the real deal. The true Good Shit, as it were."

so yeah i would guess that we're probably not meant to be taking it quite at face value? especially with the Noted Absence of terezi in there as well. but i guess we'll see where it goes
