im working on the whole thing with my splatoon OCS but I'm having a bit of trouble on working on the habitat of where the main character lives, the gist of the idea is that it looks like inkopolis and splatsville but other than that, its either the setting or the characters,one of them is just a hot tempered salmonid, the other is a monotone inkling who dosent show his feelings and a really shy and fearful sanitized octoling, they seem so one noted so I need ur guy's help!!!!

So do you need help with character ideas, or setting ideas? Might I suggest looking to more sources for inspiration. Splatoon occupies the genre of "grind fiction", which also includes works such as Jet Set Radio, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, The World Ends With You, High-Fi Rush, some Persona games, Zenless Zone Zero, and more. They share a similar aesthetic to Splatoon, and ideas taken from them would fit in and feel right at home in the Splatoon world.
hm, ive seen some persona games but i think its mostly the fight scenes, but i havent been able to see it fully to its setting, but i'll see some gameplay from the games you recommended (also yeah its both lol,mb if i wasnt specific enough)

yeah any of those games mentioned are great to look into for visual inspiration and like Exploreable examples of the types of environments. since splatsville is intended to be a poorer more run-down foil to inkopolis, this new place may be somewhere more in the middle. Not super affluent nor the heart of emerging youth culture, just something thats kind of There. Perhaps its averageness could be what makes it stand out as part of the point? A forgettable location that most people just pass through contrasted by characters that Arent That.
now map location-wise hmm... it'd likely be in the splatlands- where ppl have eaten the salmonid-are-bad propaganda rolls but not to the point where one cant just vibe out somewhere or somewhere entirely new. Inkadia has some STRONG anti-salmonid stuff going on between the physical blockade to a tiiny little bit of flavortext that was (i think only) in S2's salmon run handbook about how theres laws against "unauthorized" interactions with salmonids. it was probably included as a nod to how Extremely Sus grizzco was just like as a physical space in S2 and how doing a shift there is almost certainly against the law but like maybe they found a gray area? who knows. its bad!
though of course there is the secret fourth possibility of them living in a salmonid city. We've mostly only seen Remains of them or of contested forts (and uh an arena) but weve seen enough to know that there are portions that are above-water. Personally my hc is that they are a sort of amphibious city in how its built. Some buildings are above water only, some are below water only, and others are built with a hatch that moves between the two. now then its a matter of how the inkfish got there and like. there are absolutely ways especially with how salmonids have a generally more positive relationship with octolings, particularly those from the domes but I like to think it extends to more than just octarian octos bc of second language learning classes being taught so communication is easier.
im typing all this before bed so like im doing myself (and perhaps you as well) a favor and im going to come back and tackle the character side of things tomorrow. in the meantime if you have any more deets feel free to dish (heh) them out

I think that actually sounds great!!, I'm rethinking the whole salmonids are eaten but I feel like its mostly like a way to have character development for the member of the main characters band (he's a drummer and possibly the shortest of the group lol) so I think I can use that bit and modify it
plus i'll see if I can see the setting of those places and see what I can cook up for the story,its mostly supposed to replicate what was originally splatlands (somehow not a lot of chaos) and inkopolis square but in the side order ver (without the giant killing octo with 8 ball eyes lol)

Omfg, I would love to see a splatoon 3 msfpa!!! On the msfpa side, are you thinking of doing more of a PS, Homestuck, or something else style? Also, about how the main characters are supposed to be in a band, I'm remembering the stuff in salmonid lore abt bands.

So,,, yeah. Since the best are labeled with omega, then maybe you could do something with the Greek alphabet? DEFIANTLY NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE MISTAKEN FOR. But fr, I think something like the further down the Greek alphabet the better could be cool? This whole fucikng thing sounds really cool.
