I hadn't known there was bonus content for Beyond Canon until like today, and so I went and read it and was happy to see this one, which to me is cool:

idk if Hussie was writing this one or not, but it's still pretty neat because Dirk is saying what I and a lot of other people were saying when the whole Yiffy reveal happened. "This is stupid and dumb, and why would anyone want to read this? Everything's so OOC and makes no sense, there's no order to this at all, it's STUPID."
And it is obviously like that on purpose; it makes everyone incredibly angry. Hussie's ragebait was so goddamn effective I stopped reading Homestuck for 5 whole years because of a single panel. And yet I kind of do like Yiffy now.
Which is crazy because before I couldn't even stand the idea of seeing her, but now I'm like actually excited to read more about Yiffy and want to see more from her. I think the later updates after the Yiffy reveal and when act 1 ended were what made me think that I was perhaps a bit wrong about Yiffy.
But this isn't really about that, this is about "Why Dirk is afraid of Yiffy" and I think it is simply because Yiffy isn't a character who was made out of a love for the characters in Homestuck. She exists purely to piss off the audience of people who read Homestuck. And that is terrifying to a man who wants to control his part of the story and not have anything or anyone interfere with what he thinks is the best way to tell it.
Yiffy is a representation of the way stories can often escape and run off on their own away from even the audience's wants, and how it's totally out of anyone's hands what happens next.
And guess what? She's coming straight to him. Her and all of her equally as paradoxically chaotic friends are all going to explore the great beyond.
And that's a sign to Dirk at least that he is indeed like the rest of the characters in Beyond canon in that he is not really the "Main character" anymore. That can be quite scary indeed for a near omnipotent god but also it has me excited for when the rest of the story releases.
I've never heard of that theory before about Hussie being Rose the whole time but when they changed "hussie's" text to be rose's signature purple I was convinced bro. Because now that I think about it, it doesn't really "SOUND' like Hussie lol. Like Hussie has a specific style of speaking and talking and well...I don't know? It sounds off, like someone else who is pretending to be Hussie. And sure, you could chalk that up to "this portion was literally not written by Andrew Hussie" OR you could go the more insane route and say "it sounds off because it was never Hussie at all and was a different character the entire time."
I read their last theory about Obama being Rose the whole time and wow:
Imagine giving up you physical body forever, witnessing all of the different timelines and live's you could've lived if you had gotten over your crippling internalized homophobia and asked out either one of or both your best friends, only to find out it was all a ruse and you were never "over" your problems like you thought you were.
It was all a sick placebo effect and deep down you were just the same person but in a new, colder unfeeling metal body and the person who did this to you was your sister who only wanted to do this as some sort of sick power play against her dad who's also your brother (homestuck Strilonde family tree is weird but moving on) and you come to the sobering realization that maybe your sister has become someone you don't even recognize anymore because how could she ever do something like this to you? All because of some game you're not even allowed to play because you're not like "them" and were never really a fixture in this twisted family they've decided to build with each other?
Ugh. Ouch. Nooooooo.
This is like even worse than "Obama was Dirk the whole time" because at least I'd expect it but oh my gosh they've been through so much together, Dave trusts her and has been her friend for most of his life, they've bonded over how shitty and weird their home lives are...And she does this to HIM of all people??
re: evil wizard yiffy name inspiration discussion
now see I already knew abt the pippi longstocking reference in the name, having heard this song before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHNc6gXucfE (which I think could be not insignificant evidence for speculation that she doesn't hate her name, with respect to "if you say it fast its funny/how I love my happy name", and since its only been characters other than her who have actually commented on it)
but onto the real interesting speculation about that connection is the strength and horses, which are both associated with the void aspect via equius, in the classpect theorizing thread for the candy kids I'd already talked about how I'm not necessarily a believer that the kids are going to be mind/blood/doom/rage and I'd floated the idea of yiffy being void because of how even in a setting already mostly hidden from dirk's view she remained hidden from reader view and literally only appeared as a silhouette to dirk when he could see in, but mostly dismissed it due to what I thought were stronger thematic connections to breath
the strength and horses stuff I think makes void a much stronger aspect theory for yiffy than I had initially thought.
and while it's not a chumhandle I do think it is still worth considering under the lens of "chumhandles as anchor points for characterization" that hussie would talk about a lot in her author commentaries
I think Hussie was supposed to be in one of the former patreon updates separate from dirk or rose. which was right after yiffies introduction if I recall
tara and raven superfan
My guess - Dirk is driving towards a serious, purposeful narrative controlled by himself. Yiffy represents an intrusion of something both whimsically stupid (her name and her origins) and unpredictable (no, she is not going to conform to any plot role the nice voice in the back of her head lays out for her.)
"This is StuckUnderHell, nor am I out of it." - Mephistopheles
i am also a big fan of the (as i have read it called) "The gloves are canon" theory
i defs can see rose fucking with dirk that way
and i also blieve that part of why dirk even took rose with him (and put her into one of HIS robots) bc he is scared of her
(which ties into my own aspect thoughts)
additionally i think yiffy has ALL of the signs to be a rage player
and thus implicitly the potential for just as much pivotal importance as gamzee
re:griseousaconite
I wouldn't be surprised if the ult-self robots are designed to cast dirk's specific lens of those characters over their "ultimate selves".
to risk going on tangential stuff I do think its very interesting how dirk is the only "ultimate self" not in the form of a sprite^2 or a robot, and how he's the only "ultimate self" we've seen narrate anything. I think that there's a lot people are assuming are the results of gaining that awareness of one's ultimate self that might not (and probably don't) have anything to actually do with that, I think the most accurate explanation of what the ultimate self even is is still what davepeta said on the subject back in homestuck.
@deathclawEnthusiast
yeee i think thats true too
i also think its very possible for those bound to different aspects to have different ult!s
the "coalescing of the entirety of the character" is also why ult!dirk acts like he does imo
bc... theres at least one dirk in there who grew up on FullCal
as well as the part that literally got fused into LordEnglish
also when people go about how ie Jane is so ooc in the epilogues i kinda dont understand bc ult!dirk literally narrated that he influenced his friends through the narrative
(and thus mostly Destroyed their Self, as a prince of heart)
of course they would act in ways that dont seem congruent with our understanding of them from the main comic
i think he fears a fully and proper ultimate Seer of Light so much that he made sure that rose would not get to do that without being contained in his creation
and he should fear yiffy bc she is the pebble rose set in motion
Light is the tertiary opposite to Heart if we look at the aspect wheel
which is why he had to have her on his side
