Homestuck․com is returning soon, and so are upd8s! A special event will be hosted performing a rapid serialized re-release of the comic! For new fans, nostalgic fans, or fans considering a reread, we hope to try and recapture a bit of the "update culture" feeling.

Yes, the UHC is simply a redistribution of Hussie's work. But all fanwork infringes on copyright to some extent, that's why FRAF exists, right? The UHC itself is kind of irrelevant, they sent the DMCA because they knew they could, and because they dislike Gio (whether that is valid or not is up to you).

That’s something of an understatement. Sometimes I wonder why folks of that stripe still consider themselves Homestuck fans when they spend the vast majority of their online presence pontificating about all the myriad ways Homestuck sucks, the creators suck, et cetera et cetera, and I suspect that some of them are just in it for the drama or else are afflicted with a spirit of schadenfreude that makes them want to root for seeing official content crash and burn (to what end, who can say).
The fact that there were those who were all too ready to whip out the metaphorical torches and pitchforks (I saw a post advocating for the boycotting of the Homestuck patreon) speaks volumes to me.
