I love Homestuck it's my favorite comic what about y'all
"Without love, it cannot be seen."
@impiouselectrophone
despite what people say homestuck is honestly a pretty brisk read compared to all the other Long Stories out there i think. i've known a lot of people who churned through it in like a week
the epilogues are the best part of homestuck
yeah i don't recommend it but i did read through homestuck in a week back in high school one time. i do think it's worth rereading and also reading at a slower pace because i do think there's a lot of interesting details in its writing and art
"Without love, it cannot be seen."
My first read of Homestuck took like 2 weeks and that with a pause on Act 6 Act 1 cause I got bored (I now love Act 6 but at the time the very quick change in pace killed me)
That's it, I'm gonna do what I should have done a long time ago.

@jester
pacing in homestuck is a really interesting topic in general imo because there's a lot of very sharp slow downs. act 5 act 1 is a huge one but a ton of people recommended skipping to it to get past the slow parts like... ??
the epilogues are the best part of homestuck
my opinion is and has been for some time now that the best parts of homestuck are when the pace grinds down significantly and leaves space to linger. without love it cannot be seen

TRUE
the epilogues are the best part of homestuck
The Act 5 slowdown was fine to me on my first read because, to be frank, the "HOLY SHIT I'M AT THE TROLLS" kicked in. Act 6 I didn't really have anything that I was excited for before reading, so things ended up feeling a lot slower. Now when I read Act 6 I have "HOLY SHIT ALPHA KIDS TIME" hit.

people haaaate lingering in the vibes. people look at the delightful alchemy sessions the kids have in the early acts and think uck
the epilogues are the best part of homestuck
@jester
that's super fair. I think I was just down for anything at that point, homestuck got me like instantly and i've never escaped since

I also in general did not enjoy slow paces when I was 13 as much as I do now, now I fucking love slow paces. "Oh yeah this show is good but the pacing can feel really sluggish if you're used to more modern stuff" Fuck Yeah Baby, I don't want mile a minute I want 1 mile an hour.

re: jester
that's understandable! but yeah i love slow paces. to quote david lynch from a behind-the-scenes clip from twin peaks: the return, "who gives a fuckin' shit how long a scene is?"
"Without love, it cannot be seen."
vriskazone you are so right about the pacing. My absolute favorite part of original Homestuck is when they all just sit on the lilypad and talk about their feelings for 500 pages. It's great.
I too am a Homestuck Enjoyer! From the Red Miles to the New Miles, all concepts and aspects of Homestuck have interested me since I first started reading. mIrAcLeS to all and if you read this, please treat yourself to 1 glass of water, Future You will thank you later! hOnK hOnK hOnK ):0)

have either of you seen Turn A Gundam? it's my favorite anime of all time, partly because it's the only anti-war mecha show i've seen that's been brave enough to basically entirely withhold the big robot fights for like 80% of the runtime. it's mostly just politics, character drama, and slice of lifey stuff. there's an early episode where the main character helps a farmer transfer some cows with his gundam, it's peak.

act 6 was the only time I felt like it was getting a bit slow, but it wasn't that bad, the only part I disliked about act 6 was some of the bean art just looking not great, cue that one vriska panel
big fan of butches, not so much butchers
re: impiouselectrophone
see the thing is i don't care about the art being "bad" because that's not really what matters in that part of the story. a6a6i5 is for the characters talking to each other, it's about the text and the emotions. also iirc andrew was working pretty intensely on collide at that point so i'm willing to lend some lenience on the art not being top quality especially given how good that flash is lol

I love Gundam so fucking much. I tend to be an early UC fanatic personally but Turn A is also Really Fucking Good, honestly so much of Gundam is really good I think everyone should watch Gundam.

re: duckbuster
i've not seen that anime, i'm not really a huge anime person in the first place but i will definitely keep it on my list of things to check out at some point

Homestuck is epic it is the thing I think that most influenced me and also it made me want to share art and stuff online and make stories in general. Really inspiring to me.
