I feel like I'm relatively new compared to a lot of the fans I see, I'm just about approaching my 2nd year anniversary of starting homestuck for my girlfriend's birthday. I was meaning to read it anyways because Undertale is my favourite game of all time and it wouldn't exist without homestuck, so I thought it'd be a good idea to read it so I could understand utdr better ad I fell in love. I'd love to hear when other people read it and what first prompted them whether it was a friend or something else. •<|:o).

Once upon a time there was a streamer called Vargskelethor (Joel)
He was among the first to stream UNDERTALE when it originally released.
In 2015 I was enraptured by his playthrough and the game itself. Being an autistic teenager, I immediately became the worst kind of Undertale fan, forcing it into every conversation with no filter (including the parts about really wanting to have sex with Doctor Alphys).
By late 2016 I had managed to burn myself out (my fantasies about Alphys largely returned to being about Rouge the bat) though and was instead looking at the rest of Toby Fox's body of work. I heard he was a part of Homestuck and that it had ended recently, so I did what any normal person would do and binged Andrew Hussie's entire creative legacy.
Yes, including humanimals, the wizard book and the centaur cocks.
Anyway obviously Homestuck is the best out of these, I think Problem Sleuth has the tighter pacing but ultimately doesn't gesture at higher ideas the way Homestuck does.
I got Loren to read it too, he loved PS but burnt out somewhere around Hivebent because HS was too confusing. I concur, I still don't fully understand it even now.
Alphys can still get it though

I tried it back in middle school a handful of years ago, but it didn't stick with me back then. I started it up again a few months ago and finished it tho!
i was at least a bit aware of homestuck for a few years (mainly through interacting with people, along with a few misc stories like the sharpie bath) but i never seriously read it until 2023 when i had nothing else to do on a roadtrip, and i read like the first 3k(?) or so pages on my phone (on the site) before moving to the collection after i got home and marathoning the rest there. it also introduced me to my goat nepeta who the INSTANT i read their intro panel i was like "Yeah. This my goat."
the yung filipino prophet
started reading during 2009 thanks to being a super online kid really into comics and tumblr lol
ive known about homestuck and read the first few pages a few years back because of curiosity hearing the name being tossed around, but then a close friend of mine back then really didn't like any mention of it so I just. never touched it again.
fast forward to like.. late 2022? new friend group, the closest one to me is fixated on homestuck and then they introduced me to some fan content/animatics and then boom. started reading it because i got obsessed with a certain character (wink wink nudge nudge my profile cough) and i have not finished it because of my own laziness, fucked up brain, and life being very busy in general lol.
I did get over halfway though, i have to continue it when i have freetime and the mind power to do so
icon by ME! i make ART!!!
When I was 10 I would talk in the Octopimp Eridan voice and I remember yelling ABSCOND in front of my mom and running away and I never finished the comic itself I just watched hella dub videos of fan comics

i started reading for real around july 2024, forced into it by a beloved pal, but i first checked it out and read like 100 pages before forgetting completely around may 2023.
I started towards the end of 2024 partly because I had always planned to read it(Undertale fan) and had avoided spoilers, also partly due to some friends getting back into it. Homestuck has had a bigger impact on me than I could've anticipated and I'm still not over UT all these years later.

I remember very specifically beginning Act 3 on the same day as the famous Felix Baumgartner Space Jump, which wiki tells me was 10/14/2012, so I guess I probably started in early 2012. I would have been 13, damn…
I miss tumblr
i started reading around 2016 and fell in love with it lmao. it was a year after getting into undertale but i dont think i knew how they were connected until later. way before properly delving into it, i remember seeing some cosplay video or smth on youtube in 2014? and attempted to watch the lets read but i couldnt pay attention and got bored fast. i think i properly finished it in 2019 tho
started reading it at the January of this year as part of a kinda new years resolution, and just finished it in June!
I was also reading it with two friends, but so far im the only one to finish it-
aw yeah, awesome signature
2010 iirc
i caught up when sollux was being introduced.
i started interacting with tumblr fandom around 2011 if i recall.
I tried reading it back in 2015 and again in 2019 before that friend group fell out and I forgot it even existed, I started reading June 28th 2024 and I loved it! The characters and music still mean a lot to me. <3
The Stars Will Shine Brightly Upon You
started reading 2015, around the time of [s] terezi remem8er! i was in middle school and would read homestuck on school computers since it was so hard to read on mobile back then and i didnt have a laptop at home at the time. i very vividly remember when the finale dropped i watched it during class and full on ugly sobbed in front of everybody LOL
i finished it in april 2012, right when jane entered the medium... 'twas 4/13 in fact!
beep boop 🤖🚀
I started december 28th, 2024. in that time I've also read through the rest of Hussie's work and I'm about to start Homestuck for the 4th time.
This is some straight up delirious biznasty, Dawg!!
started reading in like 2013 exclusively to cosplay mituna and latula with my friend, and now im planning to resurrect my over a decade old vriska cosplay... homestuck u have always been there for me
I first heard about it when I read about the Kickstarter on Undertale Wiki (must have been in 2017, I think), and “$10,000 your fantroll becomes canon, $100,000 they survive for more than one page” was so funny to me that I thought “Okay, I *have* to read this!” But i ended up stopping around page 10 and forgetting all about it.
Then in 2023 I saw an episode of Umm, Actually that had a question about Homestuck, which got me interested, and when I started I just thought “Ohhhh, it’s this weird thing!” - not that I remembered why I remembered it. I got through Act 1, but then stopped again. Then on the 30th of November, 2023, Tale Foundry uploaded the video “How to Become a God”, which talked a *lot* about Homestuck, and that finally inspired me to read it all the way through. Top 3 best decisions of my life.
I took a lot of breaks, so I didn’t finish it until sometime in the summer of 2024 (I just know I reached Cascade just before Easter), and caught up with BC some months later. I regret arriving this late to the party, but on the other hand it means I have a whole gold mine of old content to find. I discovered Broadwaystuck just this week, and I heard Stuck This Way for the very first time the day before yesterday, if you can believe it! And I am indeed a Homestuck and stuck this way.
Don't mind me, I'm just pondering my orbs...
I became a serial reader sometime in 2011. I had one of those incredibly vague yet emotionally devastating dreams and the only thing I remembered when I woke up was the term "Homestruck" as a general label for the feeling I was left with. It sounded vaguely familiar, I think I had been exposed to some fanart on dA already. Anyways, I looked it up. Then I realized it was "Homestuck" and not "Homestruck" and the rest is history.
i remember going to the 2012 la comic con and meeting some homestuck cosplayers-- and when i started seeing posts about in on tumblr that same month, i was hooked :0
the rest is history!
