Look at my profile. Look at it. I like classpects. I write about classpects. I like doing thought exercises about figuring out how hypothetical classpects might work. Remember those old tumblr blogs that just explain different classpects that get submitted? This is that. I want to be that. Reply with one and I'll try and give my own take on their powers and stuff and other people can too ^^
@griseousaconite I do try my best to go for every request in order that they were requested! Even if there's one that I genuinely have trouble with I'll at least try my best and disclose I'm not really confident with the analysis. The only rules I've got are that I won't do an analysis on the classpects of the main characters (including characters who get more relevancy in beyond canon), which is why I did one for Kurloz but not for Karkat. Studying the way main characters feel about or interact with their aspect is a good way to get an understanding on this stuff, but it's a bit harder for characters that end up being pretty irrelevant. A good test of one's ability to grasp this stuff is finally understanding Tavros and Kanaya's lol.
And it's fun seeing your takes that I would have never thought of! I'd love if more people in this thread did that, it's really cool. classpects can get so abstract, I don't think anyone would've guessed what Roxy's powers could've been if they hadn't gone through the trouble to elaborate on them in the comic. A Witch of Light literally manipulating light is a really neat idea.
I'll try and get like two or three more analysis's done later today.
Heir of Light? (I have my own pretty strong ideas for what to do with this, but it's always cool to see other peoples')

Witch: Someone who manipulates, changes, and breaks the rules of their aspect. They also seem to have a tendency to work with or for powerful forces that have a great deal of power over their aspect.
Heart: Basically soul, the essence of someone's being, and someone's emotions. It's speculated that it's also related to intuition. Heavily associated and likely directly tied to romance and relationships.
Well, alright, I don't think there's many assumptions you can make on someones personality through this class. Not anything extremely specific, anyway. But the big thing about a Witch of Heart is that they will have a huge impact on the emotions of the people around them in general. As an extension of this, they'll also likely directly interfere with the relationships of the people around them.
They'd absolutely share the powers that Dirk has, but won't be as confined in the way he is, and obviously wouldn't destroy their aspect within themselves. Destruction is a form of manipulation, after all. But they'd be able to do a lot more than that, and change feelings within people as well.
Their actual powers are pretty simple. They fuck with peoples emotions. They'd start out doing this naturally, but as they grow stronger, they could change peoples feelings about things and even warp their intuition without a word. Basically like a less overt form of mind control. They don't manipulate thoughts, just emotions. An extremely powerful Witch of Heart would be able to actually change someone's heart, which is just another way of saying that they can manipulate someone's soul.
Forcing someone evil to have a change of heart and become a better person would be them breaking their aspect if there's no logical reason for that person to have actually changed. Of course, if the witch isn't exactly a good person, they could also do the opposite. Their powers would depend entirely on how suggestible their target is, though. Someone with a strong enough mind and enough conviction in their beliefs may not be able to be swayed very easily.
As for the tendency for a witch to get involved with a powerful force of some kind, I'm not sure. A Muse or Lord of Heart from another universe is always a valid option. But this isn't something a witch necessarily has to do, it's just something consistent with the witches in homestuck (Jade is involved with Alt Callie, Feferi worked with the Horrorterrors, and Damara worked on behalf of LE).
Thief: Someone who steals their aspect from others to use themselves, or someone who steals from others using their aspect. They can do this consciously of their own free will, but it also seems like it comes instinctively for some thieves. The fact they can steal their aspect is significant to them in some way.
Void: Nothingness, absence, a lack of information, and darkness, but it’s also a blank slate with infinite potential. Void players can hide themselves especially well, and excel at avoiding observation from those they don’t need spying on them or escaping when they’re in danger by slipping away. A silly example would be having a slenderman type effect on surveillance cameras and such. Escapism is heavily associated with this aspect, as every known member of it has some sort of vice.
So, the thing that usually makes it significant for a thief to be able to steal their aspect is that they lack it. Vriska had shitty luck for a long time and had her magic cue ball was broken, and Meenah "saw her future role as the Queen as nothing but a form of enslavement." So a thief's aspect is usually something that they feel was stolen from them, first.
Writing all that out helped me figure out a way this could apply to a Thief of Void; they could be someone who's constantly under surveillance and lacks any kind of privacy at all, always feeling like someone or something is watching them. Maybe their guardian is abusive or overbearing, they could even be in a situation similar to the Handmaid. The escapism that's common for void players could be more literal in this case, because their goal is to literally escape from whatever is always watching them.
As for their powers, in a narrative sense, if a Thief of Void wanted to be a less important character, they could possibly steal the narrative irrelevancy from someone else and take it from themselves; An unimportant character takes on what they were doing, while the Thief fades into the background of the story. They wouldn't have to do this, it's just something I think they could do.
In a literal sense, them stealing void would be them always knowing where someone or something is. No one or nothing could ever stay hidden from a powerful Thief of Void. It's a simple power but if utilized properly, would make them a valuable asset to their session and very good at playing the game. The more they steal void from others, the better they are at hiding themselves, and could use that power to steal whatever they want from others. They would not be able to hide anyone else.
There's possibly someone who might wonder if a Thief of Void would have powers much more similar to a Rogue of Void, however, Rogues are ones who steal directly from their aspect, and thieves are ones who steal their aspect from others. So unfortunately a Thief of Void would not have powers nearly as insane as Roxy does.
OOoh, ooh! Knight of Breath, Knight of Breath! That's what I am! I hope it's good!
Hi, I'm Chris A.! READ FRAFFORUM FRADVENTURE
i can say more on Witch of Heart and Thief of Light (from a charcaterisation standpoint) bc i have those fantrolls better worked out so far
and yessss good stuff you got there
my Witch of Heart (Erinik Kramal, cerulean) i have play very much into adhd RSD and bc of that he (subconciously?) influences people around him to make them like him
while also being rather fickle and even promiscious
sometimes going so far as to manipulate "hearts" or even be a bit of heartbreaker
getting people into hobbies and trendsetting, part of his concept is the "popular college jock" archetype
as part of the cerulean caste he does have eye powers (sideways keyhole shaped pupil like some snakes), he has heat/infrared vision (and occasional migraines, so cap or sunglasses are his thing as well), and also a more emotional telepathy which is always running in the background
he is more for beforus or earthc and so he struggles quite a bunch with the ethics standpoint of it
my Thief of Void (Vlihut Ohnaha, teal) is an alternian ancestor troll
they were kind of on display as a young troll i think and as adult have become extraordinarily private
they are a legislacerator as many tealbloods are and they appear very subservient and devout to the court but they hide deep ambition (and possibly resentment)
they find people/""criminals"" and are very good at sleuthing out secrets which they like to take for themself, only sharing enough to be considered successful but not a threat to the superiors, prefering to have only the bare minimum of stage presence
their ultimate goal is to control justice from behind the scenes
their hobbies include sewing/embroidering and pinning insects and other smaller specimen
they seek out quadrants only during droning season and ideally dispose of their partner quietly afterwards
I'm gonna start formatting these better to make them easier to read.
Thief: Someone who steals their aspect from others to use themselves. They can do this consciously of their own free will, but it also seems like it comes instinctively for some thieves. The fact they can steal their aspect is significant to them in some way. (Edited from the last time I talked about a thief, I realized I had gotten something wrong).
Doom: Fate (specifically an unfortunate fate), futility, sacrifice, and death. Time has an association with death, but doom directly deals with it. It heavily involves ghosts and the afterlife. This aspect seems to be connected with rules and restrictions. It's usually tied to the specific event(s) in their sburb session that will doom everyone.
Okay! So, let's talk about how sometimes people are inherently screwed over by their classpects before we get into this.
This was elaborated on heavily with Dirk in the comic, he destroys emotions and relationships around him, and his own soul is splintered. While he could hypothetically find a way to hone his powers towards people who deserve it, like when he was attacking Aranea in game over, it's still in his nature for him to destroy those things in general and very easy for him to hurt those around him.
Another example (and perhaps more fitting for this analysis) of a character with an inherently unfortunate classpect would be Mituna, who's also a doom player. He inherited doom, sacrificing his cognitive function, to protect his team.
I also think that some classpects are just not meant to ever mix. That doesn't mean they won't, though. So, let's get into it.
A Thief of Doom would be the most self destructive person in the world.
Something that might make stealing their aspect significant to them in some way is that they were saved from something and they wish that they weren't. Maybe they were an addict and had their vice taken from them, or maybe they were going to sacrifice themselves for something but someone else did it first. Or perhaps they thought they had some awful fate laid out for them that was shattered by the world ending as they entered the game.
If they work alongside their teammates, they'd be self sacrificial to a fault, to the point it's pretty likely they'd only really fulfill their classpect once by sacrificing themselves to save someone from death. However, sacrificing themselves wouldn't mean they have to die, they just very well could. They could also sacrifice something else like Mituna did, such as an arm, a leg, or a sense.
I think the most powerful things a Thief of Doom could do is bring someone back to life at the expense of their own. Thieves don't just steal their aspect, it's always something they use for themselves. They might also save their session from a cataclysmic event that would doom them all by finding a way to save everyone at the expense of their own life.
So, they could possibly end up doing the same thing Mituna did, but sometimes the things that separate classes of the same aspect isn't their powers, it's their characterization.
blease,,, giveth to me your knight of heart,,, i love reading about it and your analyses make my eyes sparkle!
"wvell wvell wvell... look vwhose cravwing the ampora swvagger."
Maid: Someone who repairs and maintains their aspect (edited from keeping aspect under control). It’s also a pun, as they are metaphorically (maybe literally for some aspects?) made of their aspect, which lets them lend their aspect to others when they need help.
Doom: Fate (specifically an unfortunate fate), futility, misfortune in general, sacrifice, and death. Time has an association with death, but doom directly deals with it. It heavily involves ghosts and the afterlife. This aspect seems to be connected with rules and restrictions. It's usually tied to the specific event(s) in their sburb session that will doom everyone.
A Maid of Doom is someone who orchestrates doom, thereby maintaining it. Their actions lead to causing misfortune. This would likely start out as something they don't really have much control over, unintentionally screwing things up for themselves and their friends. They'd sort've behave as a bad luck charm, doing things or ending up in situations that unintentionally start a series of dominoes to fall that lead to something bad happening. However, this doesn't necessarily have to involve causing bad events for themselves and their friends; if you wanted to be kind to your Maid of Doom character they could just have a knack for screwing things up for their adversaries in the same way, and it could absolutely be something they intentionally do.
As they grow more powerful, they would develop an innate ability to know how to cause someones death in more ways than just killing them outright. They could also have a powerful intuition when it comes to knowing how to screw someone over generally.
A more abstract thing that comes to mind is that since doom is directly related to death itself, a Maid of Doom might be able to maintain the afterlife and death. In Homestuck, the dream bubbles only exist because of Feferi, a Witch of Life who broke the rules of death for characters all across paradox space by working with (begging) the horrorterrors to create them, meaning they're not something that naturally occur within the Homestuck universe. So, if you wanted dream bubbles to exist in your own story, I think an incredibly powerful Maid of Doom would happen to find a way to create them, perhaps through the same method Feferi did.
They would not be able to revive anyone in spite of the technical interpretation you could make with a Maid of Doom being someone that repairs death. They themselves are made of death. They supply it. They maintain it. Repairing doom would be them fixing a plan to bring the downfall to the black king or another adversary if something happens to mess that plan up. Them having the power to revive others wouldn't fit narratively, as it would make them a life player. A Thief of Doom can only revive someone at the cost of death themselves, because that still like, thematically fits the aspect? Not sure how to word it properly but I hope my point gets across.
i suppose i'll throw my hat in the ring: mage of blood?
-- real slim shady
ohgodits eleven and i havent done any today im so so sorry ive been busy TuT
Page: Someone who starts out weak and extremely lacking in their aspect. This is made up for however in their incredible potential, needing to take a long journey before they can truly embrace their class and harness it for combat and for changing the narrative of their session's story. This aspect is all about growing as a person and fighting to persevere.
Three doom classes in a row is pretty funny, especially since right before they started getting requested I commented to myself on how I expected more people to be interested in doom. I think this is the first page request though, and while I think every classpect is interesting, this might be up there for the page combos.
I think a Page of Doom would be an extremely tragic character. They start out the session weak, but they're incredibly hopeful and naive and don't really feel like there's anything that could possibly stand in their teams way to victory. They get by through sheer luck for a long time since they lack doom. They see the future as incredibly bright and probably don't understand their classpect at all, or heavily misinterpret it.
However, as their journey continues, misfortune and perhaps even death follows them all around. Bad things keep on happening, and while their optimistic will is strong, it eventually crumbles if they reach their full potential. Things around them start to feel more and more futile and hopeless. They will reach their full potential when something finally happens and truly makes them feel like their session, or something they care about a lot, is doomed.
What happens next could take a few different ways. If the unfortunate event that unlocks their full abilities is something that causes them to hate their teammates and want to destroy everything around them, it will be themselves that change the narrative through dooming their session themselves. They'll unleash a destructive power so great that it renders the game unwinnable. This could be caused by something bad happening to them or someone specific they care about.
But, maybe the thing that happens isn't something that fills them with hate. If the cataclysm threatens their session itself, or still threatens themself or their loved ones but doesn't make them turn against their team, they would harness the power against their enemies. Perhaps after an entire game of Sburb where they're finally facing the black king and queen but never grew any stronger and are slowly watching their allies succumbing to defeat while they can't help, something in them snaps when they finally accept that feeling of impending doom. They unleash their power to turn that feeling against their enemies, and deal a killing or debilitating blow.
ADDENDUM: Page of Doom
So, I'm a dummy and forgot a really important aspect (ha) to the page class! FUCK
Pages aspire for their aspect heavily even if they're weak and can't embrace the full power of it. Tavros aspired to be able to FLY which is obvious but his aspiration for breath is deeper than that, Jake was incredibly hopeful to a naive degree, and even Horuss aspired towards void from the perspective that void also represents infinite potential, in reference to him having like a million hobbies and stuff.
So, while the actual powers of a page in my previous analysis still stand, a Page of Doom would NOT be a cheerful naive optimist. They would be an incredibly paranoid person who always thinks everything is doomed, or they could perhaps be someone who's morbidly fascinated with death and destruction, a good example would be how in Homestuck, a lot of trolls like Vriska and Eridan and presumably Aradia are "apocalypse buffs" cause they just find the concept to be really cool. The point about them getting by on sheer good luck does still stand though, funnily enough.
I see! Sorry about the whole triple doom in a row thing (if you even mind it), I submitted mine without checking to see if it was already answered. I think your interpretation of a Page of Doom is pretty great, though! It's always nice to see how different people look at classpecting.
HAA HAA. HEE HEE. HOO HOO. HAA HAA. HEE HEE. HOO HOO.
Seer: Someone who understands how their aspect works and learns things through their aspect. They are their party's strategists, having instinctual knowledge of their alternate timeline selves which they use to keep their party from making mistakes. They also have the talent of being able to hear their exiles more clearly than most.
Hope: This one is self explanatory. But also tied to belief in general. If you believe in something hard enough it might happen. They would be magicians in an rpg, as they have an immense amount of magical power. Holiness and angels are also representative of this aspect.
Instead of seeing what will happen, they have the ability to see what could happen. They would either be an optimist or someone who's just cocky and overconfident, or just a stubborn individual who's determined to always see silver linings and solutions to problems even when they seem impossible.
Even if they don't actually believe in any religion, it'd be fitting if they used prayer to hone their power; just simply clasping their hands and closing their eyes, maybe even kneeling while they try and focus on the actual path that their team could take to get to the ending that they want. All seers are strategists, they just go about it in different ways and some have limitations on what they can strategize for.
An extremely powerful Seer of Hope would be able to see ways to reach goals that shouldn't be technically possible, or only just barely. If they can see a path forward that would be an incredibly risky thing to do with a low chance of success, it absolutely would succeed, but they would have to train themselves not to doubt the plan at all, and believe in it with their entire soul.
This is a simple classpect to describe, but a priceless member to have in your Sburb session.
Not my classpect, 8ut it would 8e pretty cool to see your t8ke on Seer of Blood ! (Also your Witch of Light analysis was soooooooo awesome, I loved it)
Heir: Someone who inherits their aspect by being given it, and/or representing/becoming their aspect, physically or metaphorically. They start out with their aspect affecting and controlling them on its own will, being saved or helped by their aspect when they’re in trouble, and eventually learn to consciously use it as they “inherit” it.
Light: Knowledge, particularly narrative knowledge and narrative importance (spotlight), fortune, luck, literal light, foresight, literal sight. Often associated with emotional instability, likely due to the trope of people going mad when they've attained too much knowledge.
So, I guess an Heir of Light would oppose a Seer of Light because of the way they go about attaining knowledge in the at first. Heirs are sort've at the mercy or grace of their aspect in the beginning. So, I suppose an Heir of Light would start out not really seeking any knowledge out at all, knowledge would simply find them instead. Skaia's clouds or the Horrorterrors above Derse would be a good way to go about this, but they could also simply stumble onto an object that gives them knowledge or just happen to find themselves in the right places at the right time. The luck part of light would stay mostly the same, but they would grow more and more lucky the more powerful they got. An Heir of Light that reaches their full potential would be on par with, if not luckier, than Clover.
Breath and Light have something in common, which is that they're incredibly meta aspects. Breath relates to narrative freedom, and Light relates to narrative importance. Either way, it would lead to a character that's incredibly relevant in the story if not just the main protagonist. Some of my analysis's are speculation and could have other plausible interpretations, but all my responses are rooted in information I've gleaned from the comic and try to be as canon compliant as possible. I can't say everything that I say is 100% true and non-debatable, but the fact that an Heir of Light would inherit the position as the most important character in their comic is something that is undeniably true. They inherit luck, they inherit a full and comprehensive understanding of the story and world around them, and they inherit the spotlight. They don't even need to steal it like Vriska does. It's just theirs.
So please, assign yourself Heir of Light as your own classpect responsibly lol.
I wonder how similar my interpretation is to the person who requested it, I'm interested in all the replies I get that aren't just requests even if I don't respond to them directly. I promise I read and appreciate each one ^^
shall offer my dnd characters now as well whom i have classpected
Heir of Hope
(my goth girl (but also Genuinely nice girl) spider druid)
Prince of Life
(my drag dwarf ex-bard now fighter)
and Mage of Mind
(my drake nomad rangermonk)
I wonder how similar my interpretation is to the person who requested it, I'm interested in all the replies I get that aren't just requests even if I don't respond to them directly. I promise I read and appreciate each one ^^
For me Heir of Light relies really heavily on "light as narrative relevance" and the idea that inheritance can kind of imply just being bestowed your aspect without earning it. So to me Heir of Light is very much the classpect of being marked as The Chosen One beyond other Sburb players, and how much that sucks for both you and everyone you're expected to overshadow
