Look at my profile. Look at it. I like classpects. I write about classpects. I like doing thought exercises about figuring out how hypothetical classpects might work. Remember those old tumblr blogs that just explain different classpects that get submitted? This is that. I want to be that. Reply with one and I'll try and give my own take on their powers and stuff and other people can too ^^
welcome back!
extremely interesting analysis of kankri classpectwise there, ill have to contemplate that proper sometime as well
your Heir of Hope analysis is also very cool!
and it defs does fit my spider druid :3 even if atm shes in a bit of a mental health crisis
im very exited for the coming ones
@griseousaconite I. Forgot that that was his classpect. Holy shit how did I do that. Kankri is such a weird character I almost never think about him lmao.
But I do think the way I described Seer of Blood still fits after looking at him. Kankri is just someone who never really even came close to reaching his full potential. His post-scratch self did though for sure. Signless is a great example of a Seer of Blood and would've been really powerful had it been that version of himself that played Sburb and could actually utilize his powers. Though I used the word "manipulate" a bit too much in that analysis in hindsight, but only because of the negative connotations. Signless used his knowledge of blood to simply persuade people and definitely convinced others to see him as a figure that they should follow and listen to. I feel silly for not recognizing I was analyzing a classpect that actually existed in the comic but I feel like it was a decent enough test to see how accurately I could make these things lol.
But yeah it serves as a good reminder of how much the dancestors fucked around and screwed up their session. So little of them actually utilized their powers or saw their full potential. Lotta the ones who did do that, uh, weren't the greatest and even actively antagonized their session. Damara is outright stated to have done so and it's my own personal theory Kurloz did as well and that he had something to do with Mituna's incident since he was the only witness and never elaborated on what happened to anyone despite having the full ability to do so. But this is a tangent that doesn't really matter, whoops!
(Sorry for not posting yesterday they were doing construction in the basement and that's where my pc is :,))
Prince(ss): Someone who destroys their aspect outright. They are at odds with their aspect, and usually even destroy their aspect within themselves. It’s also shown that they destroy their aspect so that it can be rebuilt stronger than it was before. (It is my own personal speculation, so feel free to take this or leave it, that a prince's ultimate challenge is to rebuild their aspect within themselves after they’ve destroyed it).
Life: Healing and the manipulation of death. If they were an rpg class, most would be the healer. They're usually extremely passive with a focus on supporting their teammates, but this isn't the case with every class, as some classes focus on taking life rather than providing it. They focus on health both physically and mentally, and tend to have a big influence on the mental state of those close to them in either a positive or negative way.
Yeah okay this is a funny one. Whoever requested this ily so much because this class is both extremely powerful but also relatively straightforward and I appreciate that lol.
A Prince of Life fucking kills people. That's what they do. They are able to suck the life out of people and could possibly extend their powers towards nature as well if they were powerful enough, though that's extremely speculative since I don't recall any life players ever actually interacting with plants in the comic.
A good Prince of Life is someone who tears down the lives of those who are preventing other peoples lives from flourishing, destroying their aspect so it can be rebuilt. Princes destroy their aspect within themselves as well, so they'd either outright hate themselves or unintentionally do really self destructive things, and you can get pretty creative with what that actually means. My speculation on the ultimate challenge of a prince is pretty self explanatory here, a prince screws up their life, reaches rock bottom, and their challenge is to rebuild it better than before.
They'd also probably be similar to Dirk in that they're unintentionally detrimental to the mental and physical health to anyone that's close to them, but a Prince of Heart has a huge focus on breaking other peoples hearts more than anything. So the difference is that a Prince of Life would just be a negative influence in general and wouldn't really have any focus on romantic relationships or people who have a crush on them. It could be that they're someone who's very physically strong or skilled at fighting and spar with their teammates a lot and take it way too far, but since Princes destroy their aspect so it can be rebuilt stronger (unless they're bad at their job like Eridan was), their fights with their teammates do in fact make them incredibly strong and better able to protect themselves from death.
This would in fact be one of the most powerful offensive classes, but would exchange power for complexity. They may not do much, but they do it very well. A good Prince of Life lives by the rule "eye for an eye" and is always willing to take the lives of a few to save the
lives of many.
A bad Prince of Life simply gives in and becomes a harbinger of death and nothing more. The title of a Prince of many different aspects often comes with a challenge. Some succeed, some don't, and some only succeed for a while. Many are just misguided, though.
You can make a good character from any classpect regardless of how simple they are, it's why I appreciated this request so much.
Also holy shit that's like the first analysis I've done on a life class. Damn.
Kinda figured that would happen though, I think people unfairly assume life is one of the most uninteresting aspects, but I mean, I guess I understand why. Though, there's one specific class of life player that would be really fucking stupidly powerful that I'm hoping eventually gets requested...
Maid: Someone who repairs and maintains their aspect. It’s also a pun, as they are metaphorically (maybe literally for some aspects?) made of their aspect, which lets them lend their aspect to others when they need help.
Rage: Insanity, chaos, destruction, obsession/conviction, and negative emotions with a huge focus on anger. Associated with physical strength, many rage classes would be brawlers in an rpg. They reach their full potential when pushed to their mental limit and/or under an extreme amount of stress.
This... is a funny one.
So, since Maid's are often "made" of their aspect, or at least seem like it, I imagine a Maid of Rage could be either a perfect embodiment of everything rage represents, or, they'd simply bring it out in everyone they talk to. Yes. They would indeed have the power of ragebaiting.
Half-jokes aside, a Maid of Rage's duty would essentially be to maintain productive anger and conviction in their party. If they do it well anyway. If they're a shitty person they'd be doing the same thing but to a detrimental effect, enraging the party to keep them from actually achieving anything.
They'd essentially be able to emotionally manipulate people but with a focus on negative emotions. They'd have a huge influence over the mental state of their party as maids focus on keeping their aspect under their control over anything else, like how a maid of a house keeps it under control.
Maids tend to be support rather than offense when it comes to fighting. They'd be able to help others unlock great strength by forcing them to reach their mental limit and become overwhelmed with adrenaline or temporary insanity, which can be pretty useful in a fight if it directly correlates to how powerful you are. In homestuck's case, it absolutely does, as rage seems to be tied very closely to physical strength.
Them being good with support doesn't mean they can't interact with the enemy though. If they drive an enemy so insane that they can't coordinate themselves properly, it can be easier to fight. So they'd essentially be able to give buffs to the party and debuffs to the enemies. Enraging an enemy might make them more physically powerful but it'd also make them far less likely to hit and much more susceptible to damage, and make them useless when it comes to commanding an army or allies.
Hmmm. I have a slightly different take on Maids. This might be extrapolating Aradia, but I always think of Maids as serving their aspect (being in servitude to it) until they regain control and are able to serve their aspect (serve it up to others, provide it). thoughts?

I really enjoy your classpecting! I know you are inundated with requests, but once you have a moment I'd love to hear your take on a mage of hope! Only if you have time of course
i love those! if you dont mind ill pitch in my own suggestion
Witch of Blood
more analyses!!
exciting
i do think the Life aspect is kinda taken rather simple here tho
and i feel like you glossed a little over the secondary part of a Prince: one who destroys their aspect or destroys with their aspect
i do agree tho that a Prince of Life is a classpect to be feared for sure
also while the extended zodiac says that the personalities of the lifebound tend to be more self sacrificing, i think the Life aspect itself is more ruthless
life finds a way and life will NOT give up
and all Life players in the comic also have themes of Authority which is interesting imo
so my take is that a Prince of Life could also destroy that authority, or on the flipside become a terrifingly efficient dictator
additonally Life is connected to Luxury and Wealth which also has incredibly fun implications for a powerset
@griseousaconite
Yeah there's a lot of symbolic stuff you can get away with for the Life class for sure, you can get really creative with it. I'll try and keep that in mind for future analysis's, but I just felt like Prince of Life would likely mostly focus on literal life, though they definitely wouldn't have to and I should've expanded on that idea more. A Prince of Life tearing down authority is kinda the idea I had behind the whole "tearing down life to preserve life" stuff though :o
I think in retrospect I would add that it'd likely be that a Prince of Life is someone who started out with a lot of wealth and luxury and slowly lost it all as a consequence of their own actions.
Also, I do not actually believe that Princes destroy with their aspect. Part of why I made my own doc about classpecting is because there's actually some stuff I disagree with on the MSPA wiki. If you take a look at Eridan, Dirk, and Kurloz, they never seem to focus on really utilizing their aspect as a weapon, with like, one exception with Kurloz with the great honk, but he literally sealed his lips shut afterwards. So I see that incident more as a catalyst for him to destroy the rage within himself.
The biggest reason that I don't think Princes actually destroy things with their aspect is because it really steps on the toes of what little we know about bards, and it's why people usually think of bards as such a vague class, since they think that they just do what princes do but to the left.
Bards and Princes are inverses of one another. A Prince starts with their aspect but slowly destroys it within themselves, and Bards start without their aspect and slowly build it within themselves. A Prince destroys their aspect, and a Bard destroys things using it. It also seems contradictory that a Prince would destroy with their aspect, how could they do that when they don't have much of it?
The way Gamzee acts supports my take but it's also supported with what little we know about Cronus, the only other Bard. He was slowly building up hope within himself, specifically the belief that he would be the one destined to fight and destroy Lord English. Had Kurloz not destroyed the rage within him (the hope he was building up revolved around wanting to destroy, which means it was intertwined with rage) then Cronus could have used his hope to defeat LE and probably would've been stupid powerful.
Eridan had a warped idea on what him being a Prince of Hope actually meant, but when you look at the impact his actions had on the story, even if he claims differently, he never really destroyed using Hope. He ruined it when destroying the matriorb, and did that because he lost all hope within himself iirc. He was obsessed with tearing hope away from others with his apocalypse fantasies. Destroying hope was a huge thing his character revolved around, he never really utilized it.
I don't think I'm an infallible authority on classpecting by any means but I do stand firmly in my beliefs here. I'll accept if something proves me wrong though.
@libraryseraph
That... is actually a very interesting take. Jane was in servitude to HIC, who's an extremely powerful Thief of Life. Life is also tied to authority and high class positions as well, which makes it make double make sense. Aradia starting out as literally dead and then being bound to a machine would also fit for her being in servitude towards time, as time is associated with death, entropy, and machinery.
But eventually they're able to serve their aspect to others, Aradia giving the players more time and Jane giving people new life. I think the ultimate challenge of a maid would be to overcome their servitude rather than embracing it once they gain power, as Jane and Aradia both have a tendency to do that. Some stuff I know about in BC is that Jane kind've became a diet HIC, and that Aradia doomed a LOT of timelines to keep the main timeline under control.
Porrim is. Also a Maid. Don't really think there's much to comment on with her pre-scratch self that played the game, unless I forgot some stuff. (Wasn't she kinda held down by this weird personal obligation she felt to take care of her friends?) Dolorosa could be seen as being in servitude towards Space since she adopted Signless and raised him, space is associated with nurturing and creation (which maternity is tied to). So yeah! That's a really fuckin good take and I think I'll edit my doc with this information in mind. Tysm!
Yes! I am winning at classpecting!
Spades Slick is a butch lesbian 2k25
i like that explanation a lot! i dont think i quite agree with it but i see where youre coming from with it now
which imo is part of the fun of analysis and reading other peoples as well
i hope you share your Big Class(pect) Document sometime! very curious about it
i also very much agree on the Maid with both of you
i would perhaps for analysis specifically phrase it as a "dependency" rather than "servitude" bc i think its a more ""neutral"" wording
and bc Damara who actually was put in the role of a servant very much was not a Maid
very much makes sense in the Maid image tho
i also would say Aradia depending on what the voices of the dead (selves) tell her is the biggest representation for her Time aspect dependency as well
@griseousaconite
Damara was put in the role of a servant because witches tend to get caught up with powerful forces with power over their aspect, but maids specifically gain more control over their aspect the more powerful they get. They serve their aspect but eventually realize the power that they have over it to keep it functional, sort've like how if a rich person's maid suddenly quit their house would just fall to shambles. Handmaid never had any potential to gain power over time the way Aradia did.
I'm not really sure dependency is a term that makes more sense because it kind've has different implications, like the maid feels like they rely on whatever represents their aspect, rather than obeying or being bound by it's will for some reason or another.
Aradia was serving the will of the dead voices around her because their whispers of an impending apocalypse led her to believe nothing else mattered other than doing what they told her. The fact she's obeying them is what's significant to the story and her character in the beginning. Jane was kinda technically dependent on HIC just because her family worked for her, but the fact she was raised and groomed into acting out HIC's will has a lot more narrative significance and is the reason that she was dependent on her in the first place.
So the new blurb I'll be using for maids is "Maid: Someone who mainly repairs and maintains their aspect. It’s also a pun, as they are made of their aspect, which lets them lend (or “serve” to fit in with the maid theming) it to others when they need help. They start out in servitude towards their aspect in some way or another, either willingly obeying a force that represents it or forcibly bound by that force, but will gain more and more complete control over it the more powerful they become, serving their aspect on their own terms."
Oh yeah, and I finally linked the classpect doc in a comment under my profile! Feel free to check that out :>
Geez, I've commented a bunch on this thread today and haven't made any analysis! Let's fix that.
Sylph: Sylph’s are similar to witches but they manipulate their aspect in a more abstract way, with a focus on healing. They can manipulate their aspect to heal other people, as well as their aspect itself by manifesting it in some way. Their aspect is something that’s fragile or weak in their session, and they always take it as their personal duty to fix it.
Rage: Insanity, chaos, destruction, obsession/conviction, and negative emotions with a huge focus on anger. Associated with physical strength, many rage classes would be brawlers in an rpg. They reach their full potential when pushed to their mental limit and/or under an extreme amount of stress.
Alright, we're at the point in the queue with four sylph's in a row after not having done a single one yet. Neat! First one is a bit of a challenge if I'm being honest. Since Sylph's are specifically players who heal their aspect and heal others with their aspect, they interact with some aspects a bit strangely. Because of how straightforward they are these analysis's may also be a bit shorter than usual.
My personal take is that a Sylph of Rage is someone who absolutely hates people who are weak, overly passive or too nice, or lack any sort of anger. Chaos and rage are extremely important to them. A lack of chaos is something that they see as an issue. If they meet someone who seems to never experience or express any sort of negative emotion, they'll "fix" them, sparking rage into them. A powerful Sylph of Rage would literally drive others insane.
Their session would likely start out very straightforward with little conflict, with very little rage within it. Their duty would be to cause anger, chaos, and destruction.
More likely than not, a Sylph of Rage just wouldn't be a very good person because of the role one would have in the story. Healing rage itself and "fixing" people who lack rage can be taken in a positive way with some creativity of course, but more often than not, they'll be an antagonist within the story.
Hi! New fan here, just finished the comic recently! I'm really struggling to classpect myself because I feel unsure of how exactly to parse my personality to figure out what would fit best. Do you have advice for figuring out one's own classpect? Or know somebody who is good at helping others figure their own out?
(I'm aware that it's difficult to boil down any one personality into single boxes and labels, but it's fun to try lol)

Well. I tried.

Admittedly I'm biased because sylph of rage is my classpect even if I didn't suggest it, but i don't think sylph of rage is necessarily negative. Leaving aside that anger is not necessarily unneeded or unproductive, things including the Extended Zodiac and (probably) Yiffy's narration associate it with painful truths and the destruction of comforting illusions. A sylph of rage could just as easily be someone who breaks down toxic positivity and a refusal to confront actual problems, or who makes people apply their anger constructively

@scratch
So, I think I can help with that actually. At least, I hope I can.
Aspects in homestuck are narrative devices. Their significance comes from the way the concepts work in the story and how the characters feel about them or interact with them. It's why some aspects even involve the word narrative when many people describe them. Breath means narrative freedom, or not letting the story hold you back. Light is narrative significance and luck, things that are important to the story, and luck meaning the things that have to go right for the story to go the right way (like when a main character takes a huge risk that HAS to succeed for the story to continue correctly). Void represents the things that allude the main characters. Stuff like that.
You can figure out your own aspect by viewing your life as a story that both you and the universe itself are authoring. What ideas in life do you feel a deep connection to that have a connection to one of the aspects? Classes are how you interact with those aspects. What way do you interact with a narrative concept in your life the most? But also, what are your goals in life? What do you hope to accomplish? Or, what have you already accomplished? How have you or how do you plan to do that?
Vriska is a Thief of Light because in the story, she feels like her luck has been taken from her and her ability to gain important knowledge about the narrative, specifically about the omniscient creep who's pulling a lot of strings within the story, was stolen. So the fact she's able to steal light back for herself is important to her and significant to her character arc. Jade is someone who the concept of space is important to, creativity and creation, caring for others, those ideas that are associated with space are significant to her, but in Homestuck, the aspect of space seems to be against her and all the main character favor. The way she manipulates and breaks the rules of space are the important things that she does in the story. Witches manipulate their aspect to break the rules of it and work with powerful forces in order to bend it to their will, which Jade did when she helped Alt Calliope.
Kanaya, a sylph, says she's similar to a witch but more magical. While she never reached the full potential of her actual powers, her goal was to heal space, create a new universe and continue on the existence of her people. Sylph's manipulate space in order to fix it rather than break it, which is what she aspired to do. They heal their aspect and heal others with their aspect by manifesting it.
On my profile you can find a link to a google doc in the user comments section. It's got a more concise explanation for every class and aspect. I'd recommend looking over every class and aspect objectively before trying to apply anything to yourself. A big part of why I made it was because I wanted a document that would help people classpect themselves easier that wasn't just a random quiz. If nothing I said here really helps a lot, hopefully that does at least. Good luck! I'm curious to see what you think fits you.
