I can name:
- Homestuck.net
- The Homestuck.net Bluesky and Twitter
- (apparently) The Homestuck Discord
- (apparently) r/homestuck
I feel like giving one guy control over all of these spaces is a little scary. Not to mention, they (because someone doesn't have pronouns in bio!) have been pretty vocal about supporting Gio and apparently the mods have started deleting any negative opinions of him off the Homestuck reddit, I don't know how it is with the Discord though I don't tread that far idk. I would recommend just not using these if you're concerned with unbiased reporting.
If you (or even Makin themselves, since I know they're here) can prove me wrong somehow, I'd also appreciate that, I'm not too concerned with keeping a grudge. These forums and Tumblr are one of the only major Homestuck communities on the web where everyone has gotten to speak their mind on the situation and it's really great.

would just like to say vouch, lol. like im willing to agree that the shit that came out about like, the actual exploitation that used the discord as a vector, was largely incompetence and inexperience with not knowing to 'prepare for', so to speak, those bad actors getting their way into the community. but i still think having that in your history as something that happened while you were a mod/owner means at MINIMUM you shouldn't be admin of like... anything? i don't even understand why you'd WANT that job still.
but clearly that opinion is in the minority, since people read those email transcripts and come away with the read that hussie trying to 'take over' the reddit is the main scoop. like, not the crimes? okay...
(i also cannot stand how drew + makin talked/talk about kate. you'd think she was a kaiju, not someone responding aggressively to, i cannot stress this enough, founded claims of criminal activity going on in the discord. the hysterical ranting+raving woman angle taken towards her like, formal statement about the division between the hs^2 team and the reddit/discord gives me hives every time i remember it.)
makin has vested ownership of my remote village, we have running water but we're forced to make bootleg novelizations of the books he recommends.

okay.

anyway. i too never liked that One Guy has the monopoly on homestuck fan spaces. im glad for spaces like FRAF that have more...diverse opinions than on the reddit.

@timeisrestored people took that away because, guess what, it's the narrative spread by, guess who, the people with power and presence in, guess where, places like the subreddit or the Discord server (and obviously that ends up echoing in other spaces.)
I mostly lurk in the Discord server but from my experience it seems like a pretty divided place depending on the channels. Still, I don't like the circlejerk they have there (you know the channel I'm talking about) because their opinions are what inevitably get shared around all the spaces they're associated with, and the regular Homestuck fan today has no sense of critical thinking so they'll just roll with whatever the majority seems to agree with (see: all the people asking for a summary [read: opinion] on the UHC drama.)
And that's about it.
coming in waving my mspfa fan flag but if u want a place to discuss homestuck (though beware we do have some stricter rules in regards to homestuck discussion and discussion around the creators of the comics) come and hop in the mspfa discord! i prommy it can be a good time to hang out with people who dont endlessly shit on the webcomic
Yes!!! I literally shouted out MSPFA earlier in the thread I think it's a great community with a lot of passionate and creative individuals in it. Cannot recommend enough.

just popping in to say LOVE MSPFA, though I haven't really been on the site in a while so I can work on my own fan adventure haha
ANYWAYS :P
I like the homestuck subreddit, but I'm also on r/althomestuck and r/EnglishPumpkinParty . they're nice spaces to mess around in as long as you don't take anything seriously, and just ignore whatever you don't like haha
I wouldn't recommend that last one personally given its propensity to post hanging june egbert wojaks
Also considering althomestuck is moderated by the same exact mod team as the main subreddit (which includes the very individual this thread is about) I would not really recommend it much either.

Oh no that always leaves a taste of iron in my mouth, so I just downvote, hope others will do the same, and just pretend it didn't happen...
But, yeah it ain't the best of places :[
@rollypollypal
haha wait what... your serious?
RE:restlessmooner
Yes they're identical with the exception of althomestuck not having an automoderator

don't think i've seen anyone mention that makin runs the homestuck resources booru. it's a necessary bit of housekeeping, having an external archive for that sort of thing, but i have my complaints; for a while, you could only upload PSDs to the booru by sending them to makin to upload himself, it's not using a traditional booru enging e.g. szurubooru, it's another fan resource owned by this one guy who's prone to trolling and stirring the pot.
my number one makin memory will always be when the MSPFA discord server got wiped, he immediately took it as an opportunity to advertise his homestuck discord server. when people were understandably upset that a thread thread titled (paraphrasing here) "How you can save the MSPFA Discord!" was only an ad for his own personal Mos Eisley, he doubled down on being a troll, which only made everything worse for everyone.
NOTE: i've been informed that the booru does indeed use szurubooru. i assumed it didn't cause of the site's theming
RE: @deacon_blues
That sounds like it was awful to deal with, jesus.
Hope you don't mind if I center attention to my own view for a second, because I've been meaning to talk about this without just shilling out of the blue. I've personally been a bit upset that homestuck.net is the only real option for hosting stuff like this, which is part of the reason I picked up making my own site, but not entirely (it was a project I had built as a typical shrine site first, and I was intimidated out of expanding it due to just how massive .net was, but I ended up picking it back up after this controversy). I would love to add more to it but I really have no idea how to make websites beyond manually compiling everything, so learning more about web dev is certainly on my bucket list.
Hey I think its really cool to get into doing stuff like web dev so early, good luck to you.

YEAH. YEAH. as someone who was on the forefront of that, contacting discord to try and regain control of the discord and assuring people that this was not "the death of mspfa" and trying to put out fires . this was atrocious behavior. the most annoying part of it was afterwards when he pretended like he always cared about preserving the discord after being called out for it. shoutout to the people who immediately called out that this was shitty behavior and helped keeping the fires smothered yall were real ones
