@sword I agree with all you said, all I'm saying is that if they couldn't come to an agreement and both sides knew it wouldn't happen, then I don't see why Hussie would have a reason to care about dragging on the negotiations about the UHC, which is why I interpret those and having shifted towards being about the articles. In fact, I think it would've been wiser if they had stopped at Bambosh, since he was also expressing disinterest in the negotiations.

@dingus Gio being right is maybe the single biggest point of contention here because every article he wrote has been put into question by different people. It's no wonder that he's unwanted for, among other things, getting people who aren't involved caught in crossfires because of his speculation and unprofessionalism, and those bring serious dobuts to his articles.

@Deep Dive Devin I totally understand where you're coming from. It's fair to let people know of what abuses might take place in the work environment of Homestuck. The issue here is specifically with Gio's behavior about it, and the manner in which he exposes those facts. He's untrustworthy for a lot of reasons and his story with the UHC isn't 100% equivalent to the other stories he's reported on because unlike in those cases, Gio and Hussie already had a lot of bad blood between them which explains a lot of Hussie's behavior in the situation. Gio is no saint and he was wary of what Hussie could try to do, and yet he still carried on with his "display of good faith" by passive-aggressively letting Hussie pile on him with threats he knew would have effect eventually.

Gio and bamboosh didn’t receive any notorized word that they wouldn’t face legal prosecution because the entire affair seems to have been handled through discord. hussie being so unprofessional as to send legal threats through discord messages is another feather in his cap I guess.

I get what you're saying @Palm, but even by Gio's own screenshots it's clear that he was the one dragging things out. He was asked multiple times for responses to certain things and he never made a statement/request like Bambosh to end things. He also wanted to see if he could still get what he wanted without having to give up what Hussie wanted. Especially from Hussie's perspective, why would he not think that getting to have the UHC up, official, and PAID FOR would be more valuable in the long run for Gio to have than to have blog posts up (with Gio's Patreon having: well. not a lot going on)? We can all say in hindsight and after seeing exactly how Gio behaves when he doesn't get what he wants that Hussie should have stopped sooner or just sent the DMCA, but I have a sneaking suspicion that there would have been another article anyway and we'd be talking about whether Hussie should have just tried to negotiate more or something.

Gio fought to keep the articles up because he is, again, a muckracker at heart who thinks he is doing the public a service by letting them know about the various troubles that occurred during hiveswaps development. I imagine there are many backers of the kickstarter who consider his articles valuable information since they are investors in the project at the end of the day

The homestuck discord is full of people like this genuinely. It's one big circlejerk of people who have hated the comic since act 6 talking about how much they hate hussie.
